WHAT’S TO LOVE ABOUT ENTRADA ESTATES

Entrada Estates is a waterfront, gated community in Coconut Grove’s southernmost point. What many people don’t know about Entrada Estates is that the community is actually open to the public. Years ago, the residents of Entrada Estates got together and formed an association that built a guard gate and paid for a 24-hour roaming security guard. The community also shares a lighted tennis court. Buyers are attracted to Entrada Estates because it is centrally located between Coconut Grove, South Miami, and Coral Gables.

Entrada Estates dates back to the early 1900s when William Matheson’s son, Hugh Matheson, purchased a large 20-acre tract of waterfront land. He built two homes for his family here and hired well-known landscape architect La-Trobe Bateman to design the grounds. His first home, Villa Liguori was named after his wife and was situated at the edge of a man-made basin that had direct water access to Biscayne Bay. Today, Matheson’s large property has been sub-divided into 32 home sites which are located along Stewart Avenue, Matheson Avenue, and Curtis Lane. Villa Liguori remains in Entrada Estates today.
